Have you ever walked around the capital of Russia at night? Moscow by day and in the velvety darkness of the night are two totally different cities. In the light of day, this is an ordinary metropolis, living its own life. Crowds of people rushing somewhere, a huge number of cars, noise and fuss. Once the night coolness is down, everything magically changes. Before us is the unearthly mysterious Moscow, shining with garlands of lights, flickering with the lit buildings, reflected by the light of lanterns on the crystal surface of the Moskva river.
The huge illuminated high-rises of the Stalin era against the background of the Moscow night sky make for the most unforgettable sight.
Each of them is beautiful in its own special way:
- the Moscow State University main building is the most ambitious one, somewhat reminiscent of a fabulous palace,
- boats beautifully lit by the night lights are sleeping in front of the former hotel "Ukraina" (now Radisson Royal),
- the high-rise of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs looks like an old medieval castle with a jagged crown of towers, and only the enormous coat of arms of the USSR brings us back to reality.
- and old legends come to life near the House on Kotelnicheskaya Embankment, and it feels like local ghosts roam somewhere in the dark around the corner, since their time has come.
Take home the most colourful photos and equally vivid impressions from this encounter with Moscow's most impressive architecture.
