In one packed day we will show you Moscow - a city with many centuries of history that can take months to discover. First a tour of the city’s highlights – with plenty of stops for photos – in our comfortable tour bus. Our guide will bring Moscow’s tsarist-era, Soviet and modern history to life for you with a fascinating and entertaining commentary.
Then we will take you to see Moscow’s famous Novodevichy Convent and Cemetery. A magical place which has hardly changed since the 17th Century, the cemetery, with its high walls, monumental bell tower, and beautiful old churches, is often described as the ‘Kremlin in miniature’. You will learn about the fascinating history of the convent and the lives of some of the aristocratic and royal, women who chose, or were forced, to take the veil and spend the rest of their days here. The peaceful wooded cemetery next door is equally fascinating - it is the resting place of many famous Russian and Soviet writers, politicians, generals, actors and other famous people.
After lunch in a traditional Russian restaurant we will take you on a pedestrian excursion around the old streets in the shadow of the Kremlin’s walls. Known as Kitai Gorod, this is one of the oldest districts of the city. We guarantee that you will be charmed by this fascinating area and the many stories it has to tell!
