The first part of this tour is dedicated to the world of precious and rare books: we will visit the Russian national library, the greatest library in Europe, which is housed in two very different historical buildings just across the road from the Kremlin: the beautiful neo-Classical Pashkov House, and the main library building - a masterpiece of Constructivist architecture. You will discover the fascinating history of the Pashkov House and learn about its secrets and mysteries, including the legendary lost library of Ivan the Terrible, and admire its luxurious interiors and the unrivaled views over the Kremlin. More wonders await you in the main library: the great marble staircase, the reading room with its famous green lamps, the vast book vaults, and of course, the books themselves, including many from the personal collections of Russia’s tsars. This building also has its legends, as you will find out.
After a delicious supper in a typical Russian restaurant, the show will continue into the evening with an after-dark coach tour of the city. As the sun goes down and the streetlights and illuminations come on, Moscow is transformed into a magical and mysterious place. We will take you round the city’s most spectacular sights, from the Kremlin and the Bolshoi theater to the iconic ‘Gothic’ tower blocks and the futuristic skyscrapers of the Moscow City development, and much more. Discover the beauties of Moscow, ancient and modern, day and night, on this unique trip!
